1 The Metro 5 Art Award (judges' choice) for 2008 is $40,000
2 The Metro 5 Art Award (public's choice) for 2008 is $10,000
3 The Metro 5 Art Award is an acquisitive Award. The winning paintings (both judges' decision and public's choice) will automatically become part of the gallery collection.
4 From the initial entries the judges will select twenty finalists. The twenty final paintings will be hung at Metro 5 Gallery from 10/06/08 to 06/07/08.
5 From these twenty paintings the judges shall pick one winner who will receive $40,000.
6 From the same twenty paintings the public shall vote on their choice and the public's winner will receive $10,000.
7 The winner (judges' choice) will be announced on Tuesday June 24th, 2008, at 6.30pm.

9 Artists must be 35 years of age or under on 10/06/08 and must be born in Australia
or hold an Australian citizenship or a permanent resident Visa.
10 Each artist may submit one painting of any genre. Initially five high-quality identical colour photographs of the entered painting - in its entirety - must be forwarded to Metro 5 Gallery with the official entry form for pre-selection. The photographs must not be any smaller than 15.0 x 20.0 cm and must be clearly marked on back of each photo with name of artist, title of painting, medium (oil, acrylic or mixed media) size (height first) and date. Photographs will not be returned. Closing date for entries is 31/03/08.
11 Entry forms can be downloaded from the Metro 5 Gallery website www.metro5gallery.com.au and will also be available at the gallery. The entry forms must be accompanied with a biography of the artist.
12 No entry fees apply.
13 All paintings are to be made available for sale.
14 The painting entered by each artist must have been completed within a period of eighteen months prior to 31/03/08. All entered paintings must be on canvas/linen or board and painted in oil, acrylic, mixed media or a combination of. Paintings entered must be a maximum of
170.0 x 170.0 cm in size (including multiple panels).
15 The twenty finalists will be notified in writing by the 24/04/08 of their selection and the delivery of these final twenty paintings must reach Metro 5 Gallery by 06/06/08 to be eligible.
16 Finalists' works must be suitably framed for hanging and handling. A stretched canvas is considered framed.
17 The Gallery will exercise reasonable care with the work submitted but will not be responsible for loss or damage whatsoever to any work while in its custody.
18 Entrants shall allow their works to be reproduced by prints or electronic media and in any advertising and promotion during or after the exhibition period. The twenty final artists shall be responsible for the cost of freight and insurance both ways.
19 The judges' decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
20 Artists represented, showing or associated in any way with Metro 5 Gallery are not eligible to enter the competition.
21 Previous winners are excluded from entering the Award.
22 All entries must be accompanied by a page listing biographical details of the artist, including full name, age, address, telephone & e-mail details and occupation.
